  Your hosts George and Elsabe, besides
being most caring and hospitable, are an absolute
fountain of information when it comes to Prince Albert
and the surrounding countryside. From magnificent
sunrises and sunsets to the spectacular Swartberg Pass
(completed in late 1888 by Sir Thomas Bain) with its
unrivalled vistas, an engineering accomplishment which
to date remains an illusive art. Birding, flora, star
gazing information and a story to tell.
The
finest export stonefruit comes from this fertile region
which boasts a sunshine index of more than 330 days per
year! It is this combination of sunshine, fertile soil
and life-giving water from the mountain which results in
the sweetest high quality fruit fit East supermarket
shelves. This very same subtropical climate ensures that
mild winters with sunny warm days are experienced making
Karoo Lodge the ideal getaway year round.
Situated at No 66 Church Street, one cannot miss the
Karoo Lodge signboard enticing the weary traveller
looking for true Karoo hospitality, quality, comfort and
cuisine. Entering the town from the Cape
Town/Johannesburg Highway (N1), having turned off at
Prince Albert Road, Karoo Lodge is on your
left.
Drive through the gateway down the tree-
and shrub lined driveway to the secure well lit parking
area where you will no doubt be met by your
hosts.
Each suite has a private entrance easily
accessible from the garden and is beautifully furnished
with comfortable beds, a lounge and a separate dressing
area.
Bed linen is 100% cotton and both goose
feather and down and anti allergic sponge pillows are
supplied, together with bath sheets and
toiletries.
The bathrooms are luxurious and very
unique. Large corner baths and very large showers which
have beautiful floors adorned with river pebbles from
the area. All ceramics and faucets are of continental
design and origin.
Karoo Lodge suites are all
equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, drinking
glasses, ice-bucket, cold water flasks, a mini bar
fridge (unstocked), ceiling fans, clock radios, 3 and 2
point electric sockets (220/30 AC) and
hairdryers.
