Besides being most caring and hospitable, your hosts George and Elsabe are an absolute fountain of information when it comes to Prince Albert and the surrounding countryside.

The spectacular Swartberg Pass (completed in 1888 by Sir Thomas Bain) with its unrivalled vistas, is an engineering accomplishment which to date remains an illusive art.  From bird-watching, hiking and star-gazing, Karoo Lodge is central to a wide variety of outdoor activities.

The finest Blueberry and Figs comes from this fertile region which boasts a sunshine index of more than 330 days per year! It is this combination of sunshine, fertile soil and life-giving water from the mountain that results in the sweetest high quality fruit, fit for major supermarkets in the metropoles. This very same subtropical climate ensures that mild winters with sunny warm days are experienced, making Karoo Lodge the ideal getaway all year round.
